When I saw you,
you were not there.
Quando ti vidi non c’eri
A project about the pleasure of beauty, unsettled by the thought of its transience.
At the moment of encounter, beauty is already shadowed by the idea of its disappearance. We often begin to mourn something before it has even gone.
In trying to protect ourselves from future loss, we can quietly diminish the pleasure of the present. Enjoyment becomes hesitant, interrupted by an imagined absence.
These photographs remain inside that disturbance: the uneasy awareness that what moves us, attracts us or brings us joy will not last forever.
